ENVIRONMENTAL & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH TRAINING

Presentations and training on various occupational and environmental health and safety topics are offered for both technical and lay audiences, including preparation of written instructional materials and visual aids.

Topics include:

  • Hazard communication
  • Indoor air quality management
  • “Green” building initiatives
  • General industrial hygiene and safety
  • Mold operations and maintenance
  • Asbestos operations and maintenance


REPRESENTATIVE TRAINING PROGRAMS AND PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Prepared and presented a four-hour course on Construction Indoor Environmental Quality Management. Topics included background and historical perspectives on the impact of IEQ; green building design and construction issues; mold and moisture in new construction; and case studies / success stories. Audience included environmental health and safety professionals, risk managers, and facility design and operations representatives.

Served as program director and manager of industrial hygiene at the Midwest Asbestos Information Center (MAIC) at the University of Illinois at Chicago. MAIC was a USEPA-sponsored provider of asbestos-related training programs. Developed, directed, and taught courses on practices and procedures in asbestos management and control in buildings, pursuant to EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulations.

Comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Review course lecturer on respiratory protection and OSHA history and regulatory process.

Developed, marketed, and taught a one-day course entitled "Asbestos in Buildings: Air Sampling on Abatement Projects" attended by contractors, consultants, and others.

Conducted asbestos training seminars throughout the state of Wisconsin in conjunction with Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin.
